Vivek Y S is an accomplished computer science engineer with over 15 years of experience in building large scale distributed systems, big data systems, and machine learning platforms. He has a creative and imaginative mindset that allows him to tackle even the most impossible challenges. With a keen interest in startups and building great teams, Vivek is seeking technology/product leadership and founder opportunities at venture funded startups. Currently, Vivek is the Vice President of Data Science at Jupiter, where he is leading all things data and building an AI-first product in the fintech domain. He is passionate about solving problems in the financial domain using data and welcomes anyone who shares his passion to reach out to him. Vivek has openings for software engineering, data scientists, and data analysts. Prior to joining Jupiter, Vivek worked at Amazon, where he served as the Chief Architect of Contextual Advertising. He built the next generation Contextual Advertising platform using classical NLP, machine learning, and deep learning. With an experimentation-first philosophy, the platform enables data scientists to perform multiple experiments, measure and iterate at a rapid pace. The architecture has stood the test of time in handling scale from a few billion ad requests per day in 2016 to 15 billion ad requests per day. Vivek also worked as a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon, where he worked on Ad Tech & Big data batching technology (hadoop ecosystem) & real-time technology (storm & esper). He evangelized Apache Spark & Scala for machine learning training pipelines and was instrumental in building the next-generation Contextual Ad system. Vivek holds a degree in CCE from the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) with a specialization in Reinforcement Learning. He also holds a B.E in Computer Science from Vishveshwaraiah Technological University.
